Your gym on Valleur: leaderboards, crews and a monthly challenge for members
How Valleur works for Australian gyms: a members' leaderboard that rewards turning up, friend crews and a monthly challenge that lifts engagement.
Members rarely cancel a gym they feel part of. The trouble is that building community usually costs staff time: events, challenges on a whiteboard, someone updating a spreadsheet every Friday. Most gyms manage it for a month, then it fades.
Valleur gives your members a reason to feel connected to your gym every time they train, without adding to your team's workload. This guide explains what members see, how it works and what it does for your gym.
What Valleur is
Valleur is a workout tracker for iPhone, made in Australia. People use it to log their sets, follow training plans, track personal bests and watch their progress. Members can also choose the gym they train at, and from then on their sessions count towards that gym's boards.
How members join your gym in the app
Each member picks the one gym they train at. They can search for it, browse gyms in their state, or use your gym's invite code. You can put the code at the front desk, in your welcome email or anywhere else members will see it.
A gym leaderboard that rewards turning up
Everyone at your gym sees the same board, ranked by training days this month. It rewards consistency rather than strength, so a beginner who trains four times a week can sit above an experienced lifter who comes in twice. That's the behaviour most gyms want to encourage.
There's also a Strength Score: a single number for how strong someone is relative to their body weight. It's opt-in. It only appears for members who choose to show it, so nobody ends up on a strength ranking they didn't agree to.
Crews: small teams of friends inside your gym
Members can form a crew of 2 to 10 friends who train at the same gym. Crews are ranked on average training days per member, so a small crew that trains consistently can beat a big one, and every member's sessions matter to the team.
There are two crew boards. One ranks crews at your gym, and the other ranks crews across Australia or within a state. Crew invites only go between friends, each person is in one crew at a time, and members can only switch crews once a week. That keeps the boards fair.
A monthly challenge that runs itself
Each month is a fresh challenge. With three days left, members at your gym get a reminder showing where their crew sits. On the 1st, every ranked crew hears how they finished. Members get a reason to squeeze in one more session at the end of the month, and your team does nothing to run it. Our guide to crews and the monthly challenge has ideas for promoting it in your gym.
What this does for your gym
The boards reward showing up, so they give members a reason to visit more often. Crews turn gym friendships into small teams, and people who train with friends tend to stick around. Your gym's name is in front of members every time they open the app. And none of it needs staff time.
Member privacy
Members choose what they share. Strength Score is opt-in, and other members only see what's on the boards. Gym owners and managers never see a member's workouts, body weight, or anything a member hasn't chosen to show at the gym.
Making your gym official
If you own or manage the gym, you can apply to make it official on Valleur. You get an Official badge, your logo and a link to your website on the gym page, and tools to manage invite codes and staff. Read how to make your gym official on Valleur to see what's involved, and gym owner tools on Valleur for what you can do once you're approved.
Frequently asked questions
How can a gym increase member engagement?
Give members regular, low-effort reasons to show up and to feel part of something. Leaderboards based on attendance, small friend teams and a monthly challenge all do this, especially when they run automatically and don't depend on staff.
Can gym staff see members' workouts on Valleur?
No. Gym owners and managers see counts and the same boards members see. They never see individual workouts, body weight or check-ins.
Do members have to show their strength on the leaderboard?
No. The main board ranks training days. Strength Score is opt-in and only appears for members who choose to show it.
Is Valleur available outside Australia?
Valleur is currently available in Australia only, on iPhone.
